Carefor has embraced a significant shift by creating the new position of Manager, Equity & Culture, reinforcing our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) & Anti-Racism (AR) and cultural engagement. This new role will lead various efforts such as Carefor’s EDI-AR, Staff Engagement and Recognition initiatives, as well as ensure our policies, programs, and practices align with our core values of respect, inclusion, excellence and cultural safety.
Carefor’s commitment extends beyond policy updates, it is about meaningful action. We have already invested in leadership training to equip our staff with foundational knowledge on EDI-AR principles, and strengthening our hiring practices to retain diverse talent.
This culture shift reflects Carefor’s belief that equitable and inclusive healthcare begins with an equitable and inclusive workplace. We will begin with looking inward at our operations to enhance our practices and reconnect our staff teams with our mission.By embedding EDI-AR principles into our practices, we aim to create an environment where every staff member feel valued, respected, and supported. Additionally, we will be exploring new ways to amplify underrepresented voices to drive meaningful change.
EDI-AR is not a destination but an ongoing journey. More than just an initiative, it is a lasting commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and a true sense of belonging for the future.
