Job Description
  • What You Will Do:
    • Coordinating, implementing and carrying out activities
    • Identify the interests and abilities of residents to plan and implement appropriate activities.
    • Keep residents informed of activities and obtain input from residents to evaluate the value of activities.
    • Involve as many residents as possible in each activity by reminding residents to attend, bringing residents to activities or working with other staff to bring residents to activities.
    • Work with volunteers to arrange and implement activities.
    • Supervise volunteers as assigned and report concerns with regards to volunteers to the CSS Manager
    • MOW- track quarterly inventory of stock, order MOW supplies on a monthly base, receive client referrals for MOW program and pack meals for individual clients and all 5 depots.
    • Support the Manager of CSS at Public/educational displays and kiosks
    • Responsible to tidy up and store material, equipment and supplies after an activity.
    • Is knowledgeable about the volunteer role and expectations and works within those guidelines.
    • Ensures that all dealings with residents, suppliers and other parties are kept at arm’s length to avoid the possibility of actual or perceived conflicts of interest.
    • Participates in Quality management activities e.g. surveys, keeping attendance records, reporting on resident response to activities.
    • Implements changes in activities to improve quality.
    • Completes incident reports for incidents involving residents or volunteers.
    • Functions and reports in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures
    • Knowledgeable about the fire plan and emergency procedures
    • Reports the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which he/she is aware and which may endanger him/herself or another worker
    • Reports any violations of the Health and Safety Act or the regulations, or the existence of any hazard.
    • Ensures all workplace incidents are reported in a timely manner in accordance with legislation, and Carefor policies and procedures for workplace injuries and incidents
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
    • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
    • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

    Rate of pay: $17.60 per hour

    Hours of work: 60 hours bi-weekly or 0.8 FTE

    Length of term: July 6, 2026 – August 21, 2026
