Carefor Incentive Partnerships for PSWs

Carefor is pleased to participate in numerous government incentive programs offering grants to new Personal Support Workers as they begin and develop their careers.

Return of Service (ROS) for PSWs

The core return of Service (ROS) for PSWs provides $10,000.00 to recent PSW graduates in exchange for a 12-month full-time commitment. $5,000.00 is provided to the PSW after 6 months and the remaining $5,000.00 at 12 months.

To be eligible, a PSW must:

  • Have completed an Ontario PSW training program at a public-assisted college, private career college, district school board or Indigenous Institute that meets the standard established by OMCU
  • Begin employment with a participating employer between April 1, 2023and March 31, 2026
  • Commit to 12 months of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by a participating employer

Clinical Placement Stipend for PSWs

Ontario provides a clinical placement stipend of up to $5,440.00 for PSW students completing mandatory clinical training in LTC or home & community care settings. This incentive is available to students in approved programs, retroactive to April 1, 2023, and is paid directly through the employer.

To be eligible, a PSW must:

  • Begin a clinical placement as part of an Ontario PSW training program that meets the 2022 program standard with a participating LTC home, or home and community care agency
  • Begin eligible clinical placement on or after April1, 2023

Rural, Remote, and Northern Relocation Support for PSWs

This incentive provides $10,000 to PSWs who relocate 100+ km to a qualifying rural, remote, or northern community. Eligibility is tied to whether the employer is located in a region eligible under RIO scoring.

To be eligible, a PSW must:

  • Begin a clinical placement as part of an Ontario PSW training program that meets the 2022 program standard with a participating LTC home, or home and community care agency
  • Begin eligible clinical placement on or after April 1, 2023
  • Begin Employment with between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2026
  • Commit to 12 months full-time employment
