Unlike general retirement residences, Richmond Care Home focuses exclusively on memory care. Staff are specially trained to support women living with dementia, creating an environment that promotes connection, independence, comfort, and joy while minimizing the impact of memory loss.

Yes. Richmond Care Home is a women-only residence designed to meet the unique needs of women living with dementia in a supportive, close-knit community.

Residents receive specialized memory care, daily assistance, wellness support, nutritious meals, recreational programming, and a secure environment designed for individuals living with dementia.

Yes. Richmond Care Home offers both overnight and daytime respite care, providing temporary support for caregivers who need assistance or a break from caregiving responsibilities. Availability depends on room capacity.

Richmond Care Home is located in Richmond, Ontario, in southwest Ottawa, only 15 minutes from Kanata. Our address is 27 Nixon Farm Drive.

Richmond Care Home was intentionally designed to feel like home rather than an institution. Residents enjoy a cozy setting, shared living spaces, home-cooked meals, and access to a private garden and outdoor areas.

Residents enjoy home-cooked meals prepared in the heart of the home. Nutrition, wellness, and resident preferences are prioritized to support overall health and well-being.

Residents can participate in recreational programs, social activities, and opportunities to connect with friends and staff. The home also features a private garden that encourages outdoor enjoyment and engagement.

As a not-for-profit residence operated by Carefor, Richmond Care Home is committed to providing affordable, all-inclusive pricing while maintaining a high standard of dementia care and services.

The cost of rent plus care at Richmond Care Home is $5,500, all-inclusive.

Richmond Care Home is operated by Carefor, a trusted not-for-profit organization that has been serving communities in Eastern Ontario since 1897. Carefor’s people-first approach shapes every aspect of resident care. Carefor offers home and community care services across Eastern Ontario.

Carefor believes that a person living with dementia is much more than their diagnosis. The focus is on helping each resident live with purpose, community, comfort, and dignity while receiving specialized support tailored to their needs.

Applicants must:

  • Be female
  • Be 55 years of age or older
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of dementia
  • Be experiencing mild to moderate memory loss
  • Be ambulatory
  • Be able to feed themselves and manage some self-care with assistance

Certain behavioural and medical criteria also apply.

With only 16 suites, Richmond Care Home offers a highly personalized experience where staff can get to know each resident and provide individualized support.

Yes. Families are encouraged to learn more through an in-person visit or a virtual tour. Touring the home provides an opportunity to experience the welcoming atmosphere and meet the care team.
