Job Description

What You Will Do:
- Prepare meal and snack according to the approved schedule
- Ensure all menu items are available for the following day’s recipes
- Ensure maximum participation of residents in meals/snacks, while keeping their safety as a priority
- Follow infection control practices
- Keep kitchen clean, spill free and put all groceries away.
- Providing personal care as directed by nurse or per client care plan; assistance in walking, climbing or descending stairs, eating, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene
- Monitoring and maintaining resident and household safety; report to manager/ nurse
- Recognizing the social and emotional needs of client and dealing with them effectively; report to manager/nurse
- Light housekeeping/cleaning
- Laundering of clothes and linens; laundry for incontinence
- Accompanying clients on outings or to appointments as necessary
- Setting priorities for to effectively utilize time, energy, supplies and equipment
- Completing assignments in the assigned length of time
- Help create and maintain a peaceful,’ normalized,’ home-like environment for guests
- Makes changes in Client Profile as necessary
- Ensure that the door remains locked at all times
- Assisting clients to keep their rooms clean and tidy and making beds
- Encouraging and promoting resident independence (Organizational Resp.)
- Treating residents with dignity and respect (Organizational Resp.)

Qualifications
- Secondary school education preferred (Grade 12)
- Food Handler Certificate
- Minimum of up to one (1) year of experience in food service, preferably within the health care sector.
- Organizing and planning nutritious meals
- Working with clients who have dementia or Alzheimer’s an asset
- Working with the elderly or ill individuals an asset

Starting Rate of Pay: $20.87 per hour
