Job Description
  • What You Will Do:
    • Assist in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, and bathing
    • Provide laundering of clothes and linens
    • Provide light cleaning
    • Provide respite care
    • Provide light meal preparation
    • Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support
    • Document reports for clients on their plan of care and any changes in the behaviour of daily routines
    • Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures.
  • Qualifications
    • Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or National Association of Career Colleges (NAC) Certificate, or Certificate in Home Support Worker (Level II, III), or Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign-Trained BScN , Paramedic Graduate, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student.
    • Clear Vulnerable Sector check (obtained within previous six months)
    • Up to date immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella, and hepatitis
    • Negative tuberculosis test
    • Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset
    • First Aid CPR is considered an asset
    • Are capable of making a commitment of at least 15 hours/week
    • Are flexible to accommodate day shifts from 7:00 am-3:00 pm or evening shifts from 3:00 pm-11:00 pm and commit to shifts every second weekend (both Saturday and Sunday). To support planning, we will always make your schedule available two weeks in advance.

    • Are comfortable using technology, such as a smartphone, for communication and work purposes
    • Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
    • Have strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
    • Have physical fitness sufficient to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g. lifting/transferring clients
    • Are compassionate, empathetic, and creative
    • Have a desire to advocate for others and impact their community

    • Assurer le blanchissage des vêtements et du linge de maison
      Assurer un nettoyage léger
    • Offrir des soins de répitPréparer des repas légers
    • Fournir un soutien cognitif, social et compatissant
      Documenter les rapports pour les clients sur leur plan de soins et tout changement dans le comportement des routines quotidiennes
    • Autres tâches et tâches connexes assignées par le superviseur conformément à la législation, aux règlements et aux politiques et procédures de Carefor en matière de santé et de sécurité au travail.

     

  • Qualifications
    • Certificate in Home Support Worker (Level II, III), Personal Support Worker or Developmental Service Worker program, Health Care Aide, Foreign-Trained BScN or Doctor, Paramedic Graduate, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student.
    • Your ability to manage confidential information
    • Your ability to work independently
    • Your ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
    • You can provide a Vulnerable Sector check (obtained within the previous six months)
    • You are comfortable working in various social and economic environments
    • You can provide up to date immunizations for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, rubella and hepatitis
    • You are comfortable using a smartphone to communicate with clients and Carefor office staff by phone and email
    • You are comfortable using a smartphone for screening and security applications (apps)
    • Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset
    • First Aid CPR is considered an asset

     

    • Certificat de travailleur de soutien à domicile (niveau II, III), programme de travailleur de soutien personnel ou de travailleur des services de développement, aide-soignant, BScN ou médecin formé à l’étranger, diplômé paramédical, étudiant en BScN en soins infirmiers ou étudiant en IPA de deuxième année.
    • Votre capacité à gérer les renseignements confidentiels
    • Votre capacité à travailler de façon autonome
    • Votre capacité à communiquer efficacement en anglais, tant à l’écrit qu’à l’oral
    • Vous pouvez fournir une vérification de secteur vulnérable (obtenue au cours des six derniers mois)
    • Vous êtes à l’aise de travailler dans divers environnements sociaux et économiques
    • Vous pouvez fournir des vaccins à jour contre la diphtérie, le tétanos, la polio, la rubéole et l’hépatite.
    • Vous êtes à l’aise avec un téléphone intelligent pour communiquer avec les clients et le personnel du bureau de Carefor par téléphone et par courrier électronique.
    • Vous êtes à l’aise avec l’utilisation d’un téléphone intelligent pour les applications de contrôle et de sécurité (applis)
    • Une expérience en soins palliatifs est considérée comme un atout
    • Les premiers soins RCR sont considérés comme un atout.
