The Opportunity: Clinical Practice Assistant – Summer Job

Reporting to the Professional Practice Lead, this position will support the adoption of evidence-based best/leading practices, standards and regulatory requirements for the provision of personal support and nursing services within our Ottawa location.
The Clinical Practice Assistant will support research efforts that the Professional Practice Leads use for advice and expert consultation towards ensuring safe, client-centered practice. Research and corresponding activities may include setting practice standards, defining care processes and procedures, designing education and training, and evaluating care delivery models for target client populations are key areas of focus for the position.
The Clinical Practice Assistant will become familiar with the use of data and evidence used to inform delegated care and care delivery for staff and clients in our Personal Support and Nursing Services programs.

Job Description

What You Will Do:
- Support development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the professional practice framework for the Personal Support and Nursing Services teams.
- In consultation with the Professional Practice Lead, develop and update educational initiatives, programs and materials that reflect evidence-based practice and address program-specific requirements.
- Support projects for program development and new models of care delivery.
- Collaborate with teams to understand quality, safety and risk management issues, and communicate any findings to the Professional Practice Lead.
- Contribute to the improvement of client outcomes (quality of life and quality of care) based on best available evidence and efficient utilization of resources with the assistance of the Professional Practice Lead.
- Monitors federal, provincial, and other relevant legislation/regulations for compliance and collaborate with the Professional Practice team on strategies to address opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in regular meetings, orientation, mentorship, consultation and guidance with complex clinical situations.
- Support the development and rollout of clinical practice standards and guidelines
- Assist with quality audits, chart reviews, and data collection
- Participate in staff education, orientation and coaching
- Help analyze practice issues and trends, and recommend solutions

Qualifications
- Completion or working towards completion of a Practical Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. (essential)
- One (1) year experience working in health care setting considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the related regulatory and legislative requirements within Ontario is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply, teach, coach and mentor individuals and teams considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills preferred.
- Demonstrated effective critical thinking, analytical, and problem-resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset.
