Under the supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, the Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting the cook with the preparation and service of well-balanced meals to residents of the Pembroke Civic Complex and clean-up following meal service. Job Description
  • What You Will Do:
    • Maintaining a clean, safe environment
    • Performing tasks according to duty sheet
    • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
    • Assists in prepares meals, dessert, and/or snacks following standardized approved recipes, being careful to minimize waste and leftovers, and cook food according to sanitation and standardized guidelines pertaining to food preparation
    • Cleanup of kitchen and dining area
    • Serving meals to clients/residents
    • Ensuring timely service of meals
    • Handling and storing all left over foods according to food handling guidelines
    • Makes observations of resident behaviour and intervenes according to job expectation e.g. nutritional intake, disruptive behaviour in dining room, attendance for meals, general concerns affecting operations of the dietary department
    • Report observed concerns to supervisor or designate
    • Becoming familiar with individual resident’s dietary preferences, allergies, and diet restrictions
    • Assisting residents, if needed, to cut food or pour beverages
    • Promptly reports any problems, accidents, emergency situations, and complaints of residents regarding service to the supervisor or designate
    • Functions and reports in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures
    • Reports the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which he/she is aware and which may endanger him/herself or another worker
    • Reports any violations of the Health and Safety Act or the regulations, or the existence of any hazard
    • Ensures all workplace incidents are reported in a timely manner in accordance with legislation, and Carefor policies and procedures for workplace injuries and incidents

  • Qualifications
    •  Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent is preferred

  • What You Will Do:
    • Maintain a clean, safe, home – like environment
    • Collect garbage from hallways, lounges and other areas and deposit in the designated area.
    • Services and maintains hot water boiler system to the limitation of the certification of the incumbent
    • Services and maintains heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment including pumps, valves, motors, fans etc. as per preventative maintenance schedule to the limitation and certification of the incumbent
    • Repairs and maintains custodial and food services equipment
    • Tests and controls water systems and related equipment
    • Operates boilers and performs preventative maintenance on boilers and ancillary equipment and assist with preventative maintenance schedule

    • Service and install window air conditioning units

    • Performing repairs and maintains building, grounds equipment, and residents personal items, which may be of an electrical, mechanical, or carpentry in nature (woodworking, drywall, painting etc.)
    • Performing required floor care i.e. strip, seal, wax, buff, and damp mop floors
    • Carry out regular fire inspections as assigned
    • Operate light equipment i.e: lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, snow blower etc. according to operating instruction and report any malfunction to Manager
    • Keeping sidewalks, door entrances, stairways, roadways, parking areas, etc. free of hazards ( e.g. snow, ice, garbage, sand etc)

Job Description
  • What You Will Do:
    • Performs a variety of housekeeping, janitorial & laundry services
    • Maintains a clean, safe, home – like environment
    • Cleans, dusts, scrubs or vacuums resident rooms, common and public areas, including bathrooms, lounges, activity rooms, and hallways according to the cleaning schedule and Policy and Procedures
    • Mops and waxes floors routinely
    • Changes resident beds, launders personal clothing and linens on assigned units
    • Collects garbage from rooms, lounges and other areas and deposits in the designated area
    • Cleans rooms when vacated by residents and prepares room for incoming resident
    • Keeps supply rooms & laundry facilities clean and tidy and packs supplies according to the appropriate procedures
    • Follows infection control policies and procedures for housekeeping/janitorial duties
    • Functions and reports in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures
    • Performs other duties/tasks as assigned by manager or their designate

  • Qualifications
    • Secondary school education preferred
    • WHMIS certification

Under the supervision of the Care Team Supervisor, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides personal support and homemaking services to individuals. Care is provided within the framework of policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management as established by Carefor Health and Community Services and the management of the Carefor Mackay Centre.  The PSW collaborates with members of the health care team in meeting the needs of individuals to attain an optimal level of independence and wellbeing. A PSW is responsible to work within his/her scope of practice, performing the care and activities for which they have the necessary training and for which they are competent.  The PSW is to inform the manager or designate if they require additional training with tasks.

Job Description
  • What You Will Do:
    • Assist or provide care according to the Resident Care Plan. Assistance may need to be provided on a short or long term basis to individual residents including but not limited to personal care, lifts and transfers, observing nutritional status, light housekeeping, assist in taking prescribed medication, etc…
    • Observe resident for changes in behaviour or signs or symptoms of decreasing health status and report to Care Team
    • Chart care given and give verbal/written report to RPN or other team members on any unusual behaviour and observations made with respect to clients/residents
    • Evaluate the individual’s need for change in the personal support care plan and make recommendations to RPN or designate.
    • Contributes to the development of the personal support care plan by reporting, to the RPN or designate, all observations or information obtained from the resident and/or family regarding needs and the effect of the care he/she provided.
    • Plans and organizes each day’s activities, setting priorities for personal support and other activities, to effectively utilize time, energy, supplies and equipment.
    • Completes documentation/paperwork according to Carefor policies and procedures
    • Reviews all forms of documentation and communication in order to remain current on residence operations and resident care. This may include reviewing care notes, e-mails, memos, communication book, and receiving verbal updates
    • Functions and reports in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures
    • Reports the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which he/she is aware and which may endanger him/herself or another worker
    • Reports any violations of the Health and Safety Act or the regulations, or the existence of any hazard
    • Ensures all workplace incidents are reported in a timely manner in accordance with legislation, and Carefor policies and procedures for workplace injuries and incidents
  • Qualifications
    • Secondary school education preferred
    • Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide certificate
    • Current Standard First Aid Certificate, required
    • Current CPR level C Certificate, required
