Our Companion Program provides respite to caregivers by taking responsibility for a client’s practical, emotional, and/or social support. Our companions can assist people with a variety of tasks, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, escorts to appointments, and more.
There is a fee for service.
Staff and volunteers support individuals, family, and friends following the death of a loved one, individually or in a group setting.
Staff and volunteers provide education and resources to help clients and families find information (for example, internet access to resources, library materials, workshops, and webinars) and one-on-one support services.
If you need some help with your care, our trained Personal Support Workers can help.

Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in blocks of time from 1 to 24 hours.

A Home and Community Care Support Services funded program, Carefor’s Assisted Living Services are community-based health care services that provide eligible seniors living in Pembroke with the assistance they need to allow you to continue living on your own for as long as possible.

There is no cost for these services. Spaces are limited and there may be a waitlist.
The program offers a basket of community support services, including frozen and hot meals, transportation, homemaking and personal support services. Services are free of charge within the first 10 business days when leaving the hospital.
Clients are assessed and referred to the Going Home Program by the Hospital Discharge Planner and/or by the Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) Nurse in the Emergency Departments of our Champlain District hospitals.

Our home care rehabilitation services in Ottawa include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics and social work support.

We offer home care personal support services in Ottawa, Pembroke-Renfrew County and Eastern Counties that gives you and your family peace of mind.

The Friendly Visiting program offers one-on-one visits with a Carefor volunteer or team member for people who find it difficult to leave their home. In addition to making home-visits, our team of professionals are happy to lend an ear by offering one-on-one phone calls with seniors, so they maintain a strong personal connection to their community.
You can access comfortable temporary accommodations at the Carefor Civic Complex and Carefor Mackay Centre, arranged with the level of support that you need.
Winter stays are ideal for people wishing to have a break from winter-time household responsibilities, for seniors requiring respite care or for those who wish to learn more about retirement living.
Short-term stays are offered to those recovering from a recent illness or surgery.
Your stay with us will include:
Our compassionate and fully-trained volunteers offer companionship, practical assistance, and information to socially isolated or vulnerable clients in their home, in long-term care facilities, in retirement homes, and at the hospital.
One-on-one personal visiting with a trained volunteer.
Volunteers offer caregivers the opportunity to take a break from care.
Self-referral and referral from a family member or health professionals are accepted with the client’s permission.
There is no fee for these services. Donations are always appreciated!
