The Opportunity:
The Foot Care Nurse with Advanced Foot Care training and certification is responsible for providinga wide range of foot care services, either in the clients residence or in a clinic setting. The Foot Care nurse will use a General & Diabetic Foot Assessment Tool, which follows the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario Best Practice Guildeline “Reducing Foot Complications for People with Diabetes”, on all new Foot Care admission clients to Carefor.
What You Will Do:
As a Registered Nurse in Carefor’s Visit Nursing Program, you will make a difference in the lives of your clients in a clinic setting and in the community by utilizing your excellent communication skills to obtain relevant information from your clients and their families. You will implement nursing strategies or interventions according to the established care plan in consultation with the client and/or caregiver and the health care team. You will utilize adult learning principals and teaching materials to provide guidance to clients and their caregivers. You will incorporate your research findings into your daily clinical practice while demonstrating your exceptional time management and advance planning skills that will promote client-directed care, self-care and independence.
Qualifications include:

Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Certification in advanced foot care required

Experience in foot care clinics required

Previous community experience will be considered an asset

Ability to create a client visit schedule

Ability to organize work and implement a plan of care

Possession of a valid driver’s license (G2 level)

Use of a reliable vehicle that is insured for business use

Functional knowledge of IT devices, i.e. laptop, tablet, cellphones

Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset

Our Nurses in the community are paid for their kilometers during travel between clients. We offer an orientation for our nurses for up to four weeks with ongoing educational opportunities.
